TAP Program Benefits
Students participating in TAP can expect additional support and counseling as they go through the admissions process.
- Enhanced Transfer Support: Participating community colleges offer enriched academic programs, including courses necessary to transfer, such as general education requirements and major preparatory courses.
- Dedicated Counseling: Faculty and counselors at participating community colleges assist in planning academic programs that meet major and general education requirements, as well as Honors/Scholars certification.
- Priority Admission Consideration: Completing the honors/scholars program & receiving TAP certification at a member community college provides priority consideration for admission to UCLA College and select professional school majors. Note, TAP is not an admission guarantee program.
- Scholarship Opportunities: Admitted TAP students are eligible to apply for scholarships reserved for the Transfer Alliance Program.
Library Privileges for TAP Students
Students from our UCLA TAP community college honors/scholars programs can receive library privileges at eight UCLA libraries with the free library card provided by Powell Library. The card will allow students to check out a maximum of 10 items from the following libraries on campus: Arts, Music, Powell, Young Research Library, Management, Biomedical, Science and Engineering (Boelter), and Geology.
To access your library card, please:
Print the student library card authorization form and fill it out completely, including the name and contact information of a staff member from your TAP honors/scholars program. Bring the form with a current photo ID to the Powell Library circulation desk (2nd floor, Powell Library Building) to receive the FREE library card, which will allow you to check out up to 10 items from the libraries listed above.
FREE library cards requested before June 30th of each year will expire on September 30th of each year.
FREE Library Card Rules
- Maximum of 10 items charged out at any one time.
- One renewal per item.
- No holds or recalls accepted.
- No interlibrary loan privileges.
- Overdue fine information is found here.
- Access to online databases is only available to TAP students accessing the databases in-person at a UCLA Library.
Opportunity to Join UCLA College Honors
If you are TAP-certified by your community college honors/scholars program, you can apply for the UCLA College honors program without scrutiny or decision/qualification. To apply, MyUCLA by June 1. If you miss the June 1 deadline or are not eligible due to your GPA, you can get more information on joining the program on the honors programs website.
